Quilting Service

All of our patterns are charged at 2.0 cents per square inch. So for example, if you had a quilt that measured 60" x 72" you would figure out the cost as follows:

60 x 72 = 4,320 square inches x $0.02 = $86.40

There is a minimum charge of $50 for any quilt you submit. This means that a small quilt or table runner's square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.

Batting

As a convenience to clients, we sell batting at an additional cost (It is not included in the square inch quilting service price) that comes on a roll that is 93" wide.

Purchasing your batting through us is fast and easy, is competitively priced, and will save on your shipping costs when you send your quilts in!

We use and stock Quilters Dream batting. We usually stock the following rolls:

  • Quilters Dream 80% Cotton, 20% polyester

  • Quilters Dream Select Poly

  • Quilters Dream 100% Cotton Select

If there is another type of Quilters Dream batting that you would like me to special order for you, we can do that as well! You are always welcome to send along your own high-quality batting with your quilt top and backing! (We reserve the right to refuse poor quality batting.)

We charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders.  We will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 6" margin) and charge per inch.

For example, if you have a 60" x 72" quilt, I would cut 66" of the batting of your choice.                                                 â€‹

  • 66" of 80/20 cotton/poly blend @ $0.41/in = $27.06

Having a hard time choosing between the different types of batting? Here's some info on Quilters Dream batting that might help you choose:

  • 80/20 - Cotton blended with 20% polyester adds a bit of durability for those quilts that will get a lot of use and washing.  A great multipurpose batting if you don't have a specific scenario, use, or climate in mind.

  • Cotton - What can we say, cotton is a classic! If you're looking for the heirloom "crinkle", this will be your best option. 100% cotton battings will shrink the most and be the "flattest" (non-poofy) look. For quilts used in the summer months or in a warm climate, cotton is probably the best option because it's the most breathable without being overly warm

  • 100% Poly - Quilters Dream happens to make a very lovely 100% poly batt that mimics cotton, the fibers are fine and smooth. Polyester batting is lightweight and low-maintenance. It’s also very warm for cold climates without feeling super-heavy (like cotton batting can).  We recommend using the poly batt for the warmth if it'll be used in a cold climate, or if you want a greater loft, or if the price is a factor as it's the least expensive option. It also won't shrink when laundered!

  • Wool - a great choice for a natural fiber that is really warm but is also lightweight, breathable, and has a great loft. It's more expensive than most other options, so it's usually reserved for special projects.

  • Bamboo - a good choice for a very soft quilt with a great drape. It is a greener alternative to cotton, since bamboo is more quickly renewable than cotton. It's what I put in the majority of my own quilts, and holds up incredibly well to repeated washes.

  • Dream Green - Another green alternative! Dream Green batting is a soft, cozy batting made 100% from recycled plastic bottles. Quilts made with Dream Green may be machine-washed and dried with little to no shrinkage and are wrinkle-resistant. If a quilt top has a lot of very light pastel or white fabrics, there's a chance the green color of the batting will dull the whiteness a bit so we wouldn't recommend in those cases.
