PREP INFORMATION:
What size should my backing be?
We require the backing to be at least 4-5" extra ON ALL SIDES. For example, if you have a quilt top that is 60" x 80", your backing should measure at least 68" x 88". It can be bigger, not smaller! This 4-5" of excess backing all the way around the quilt allows us to clamp it to the frame to "hold onto" the quilt while it sews. Extra fees may apply if I need to put extra time and effort into getting your quilt ready to load. If you have questions, please ask! We do not accept sheets as backing.

To help prevent quilting puckers:
Measure your quilt across the top, at the center and at the bottom. These three measurements should be the same. If not, make necessary adjustments prior to sending for quilting. Tip: Cut your borders to the exact size before sewing them to the quilt. Attaching borders beginning in the center and sewing towards the edges solves many fullness issues.

Tidy it Up!
Please press your top and backing so that it's nice and tidy and ready to load. Please also clip stray threads or raveling fabrics as best as you can. You might not be able to get them all, but to prevent dark threads from shadowing through your quilt top, please don't skip this important step!
Mark the top
Mark the top of your quilt with a piece of masking / painter's tape. If your backing is directional, you can also mark its top with a piece of tape. That way everything will line up as you had hoped.
Don't Baste
That's right, you get to skip basting! Send your quilt top and backing without attaching them in any way. They are loaded on the quilting machine as separate layers.
